Gabriel Quintanilla Beaten to Death After Sexually Abusing Daughter

On January 23, 2022, Alejandro and Christian Trevino (18-year-old brothers) along with their friend, Juan Eduardo Melendez, beat their stepfather, Gabriel Quintanilla, 42, to death after they found out he had sexually abused their 9-year-old half-sister. This occurred in Pharr, Texas.
According to police, after the brothers learned Quintanilla was sexually abusing their sister, they confronted him. The confrontation became physical, and the brothers chased Quintanilla to a nearby apartment complex. At the apartment complex, another physical altercation took place; Melendez was present and took part in the second assault.
The three teenagers left in Melendez’s red Dodge Charger and switched into a pickup truck. They drove back looking for Quintanilla, where they found him walk down the road and assaulted him again using brass knuckles; they placed him the bed of the truck.
Investigators stated Quintanilla was unconscious when place in the field and died there. Quintanilla was found with severe blunt force trauma. His remains were discovered by a farmer.

At the time of his murder, Quintanilla had a warrant out for his arrest for continuous sexual abuse of a child with a different child, according to police. There was an outcry in 2019 about an assault that took place in 2014-1016. Police looked for Quintanilla multiple times but were unable to find where he was since this charge was brought against him.

Police were not aware of any sexual abuse that took place between Quintanilla and his 9-year-old daughter. This sexual assault took place a few days before the murder. It is unclear why the mother did not report this, and no charges have been filed against her as of now.

Melendez has been charged with capital murder; aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; engaging in organized crime; and possession of marijuana greater than 2 ounces.

Christian Trevino was charged with capital murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and engaging in organized crime.

Alejandro Trevino was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and engaging in organized activity.

Investigators stated this is a capital murder case since the teenagers technically kidnapped Quintanilla and stole property from him.

I believe these 3 boys who were tryinh to protect tbeir sister. Their step father had arrest warrant for continuous moleststion of another child. The 3 were teenagers and yes they took law into there own hands. The capital murder charge is offensive. Tbe jury should find thrnot guilty. At most 3rd degree involuntary manslaughter and give them probation till their 21 years old. Treat this in family court this is a family matter. That would gi e every side something.
