On August 20, 2022, Joanna Luna was last seen walking in the 11700 block of Spring Dale Drive around 2:51 a.m. She was wearing a dark gray t-shirt, black-and-pink Nike shorts and pink-and-purple shoes (Slides). Family has described Joanna as a Hispanic female, approximately 5’5″ and 110 pounds. She has medium length dark brown hair and brown eyes.
Two months following her disappearance, an Amber Alert was issued for Joanna. Police have offered no explanation as to why there was a two-month delay for an amber alert issuance.
Investigators have named a possible suspect in Luna’s abduction. Richard “Xavier” Rodriguez, 17, was initially believed to be driving a U-Haul truck with an Arizona license plate. On November 8, 2022, investigators announced that they no longer believe that the U-Haul has any involvement, but report that Rodriguez remains a suspect.
Richard Rodriguez
Police described Rodriguez as a young Hispanic male with short brown hair and brown eyes.
On November 15, 2022, the Department of Public Safety cancelled the Amber Alert that was issued. San Antonio police will continue to follow any leads.
The San Antonio Police Department is asking anyone with any information concerning Joanna Luna or Richard “Xavier” Rodriguez to contact them directly at (210) 207-7660.
