The Disappearance of Donna Mitchell

Donna Mitchell went missing on February 11, 2020, from the Hartsville, Indiana area. Investigators say that at the time of her disappearance, Mitchell was believed to be in extreme danger due to medical issues that require daily medication. Mitchell’s disappearance remains an open and active investigation.

The Disappearance of Donna Mitchell

On February 11, 2020, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Donna Mitchell was last seen at the Brown Bottle Liquor Store at 120 Harrison Street, Hartsville, Indiana. Witnesses saw her driving her dark red/maroon 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer with the license plate 902QAK.

At the time of her disappearance, Mitchell was 57 years old and described as a white female, 57, 5 foot, 3 inches tall, 115 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. The last known sighting of her described her as wearing glasses, a tan Carhart jacket, and blue jeans with a flower decal on the pant leg.

Donna Mitchell lived in Hope, Indiana, north of the area where she was last seen. It was reported that she was going to an address in the small community of Letts, near the intersections of Decatur County Roads 60SW and 600S, southeast of Hartsville, Indiana. She never arrived at her destination.

The Investigation

Police issued a Silver Alert when she was reported missing. She depends on medication that was in her home, which implies that she didn’t intend to be away from her home for an extended length of time. Several months after her disappearance, investigators canceled the Silver Alert due to a lack of information or further discovery of evidence.

Investigators asked that any residents with security cameras that face either Decatur County Line roads 700S and/or 60SW, contact the Hope Police Department so that they could review their footage hoping to capture Mitchell’s Trailblazer, which they have never recovered.

Residents across the area have fully cooperated with investigators and their search efforts. Investigators utilizing sonar equipment have searched privately owned property that contains lakes and ponds. Police have conducted aerial searches. Despite exhaustive efforts, no new information or evidence has been discovered.
